Amma
you are not a gentle task master

Amma...

Just sit there right now. Don't do a thing. Just rest. For your separation from God, from Love, is the hardest work in this world. Let me bring you trays of food & something that you like to drink. You can use my soft words as a cushion for your head.

It is SO beautiful out. The perfect day after a LONG, COLD, and annoying winter. I feel freeeeeeeeee with this beautiful weather. I just want to lay down in it forever. So I'll be on my fire escape doing homework. ;-)

My friend Billie and I were so fed up with being inside that durring lunch we snuck down to the "intermediate floor" where which is this floor that is open and surrounded by glass windows (stairs connecting to the main lobby). We did our homework there. Let me tell you, it was worth it. Seeing the sun and the beautiful day for a bit brightened my day totally. I think thats our new secret spot.

THE days of Spring are here! the eglantine,
The rose, the tulip from the dust have risen--
And thou, why liest thou beneath the dust?
Like the full clouds of Spring, these eyes of mine
Shall scatter tears upon the grave thy prison,
Till thou too from the earth thine head shalt thrust.

Amma

This is the kind of Friend You are-
Without making me realize my soul's anguished history,
You slip into my house at night,
And while I am sleeping,
You silently carry off all my suffering and sordid past in Your beautiful Hands.
~Hafiz

My Brilliant Image

One day the sun admitted,

I am just a shadow.

I wish I could show you
The Infinite Incandescence

That has cast my brilliant image!

I wish I could show you,
When you are lonely or in darkness,

The astonishing Light

Of your own Being!

My Friday Night

Here I am

The man said, “ I called and called
But Allah never replied, “Here I am.”
Abraham explained, “Allah has said,
“Your calling my name is My reply.
Your longing for Me is My message to you.
All your attempts to reach Me
Are in reality My attempts to reach you.
Your fear and love are a noose to catch Me.
In the silence surrounding every call of “Allah”
Waits a thousand replies of “Here I am.”

Who knows how Mother plays?

Perchance a prophet thou-
Who knows? Who dares touch
The depths where Mother hides
Her silent failless bolts!
Perchance the child had glimpse
Of shades, behind the scenes,
With eager eyes and strained,
Quivering forms-ready
To jump in front and be
Events, resistless, strong.
Who knows but Mother, how,
And where, and when, they come?
Perchance the shining sage
Saw more than he could tell;
Who knows, what soul, and when,
The Mother makes Her throne?
What law would freedom bind?
What merit guide Her will,
Whose freak is greatest order,
Whose will resistless law?
To child may glories ope
Which father never dreamt;
May thousandfold in daughter
Her powers Mother store.

BLOG WORTHY

Great souls.

I remember being little and going to carmines with my grandparents. My grandpa and grandma ALWAYS wanted to have the family together. If we didn't have them, our family definitely wouldn't be as strong, together, and fun as it is. I pray that it stays that way. The lessons my grandparents taught my aunts, uncles, and parents are so eternal that they remind me of Amma's lessons. They were so profound in the subtle way. Not to mention incredibly humble. Now that my grandmother has passed I realize what a gift she was. She accepted everyone. EVERYONE. My friends who would come to family events loved my grandmother because she would kiss them(endlessly!). I also remember my grandparents staying at my house with me. My grandpa and grandma took me and my friend to the zoo. My friends LOVED my grandparents. I'm starting to fully realize what a treasure they were. They really were SO special. I miss them. I know they are in a better place now...but I do.

They never failed to make it to an important event in my life. Never. They also never failed to hug me and kiss me and talk to me and inquire about my life. Thank you grandma and grandpa.

Sudha has inspired me with her all mighty blog:

Alone

O Mother with blue lotus eyes, will Thou not listen to the sobbings of this sorrowing heart?

helpful;

"Do not increase your sorrow by sharing them with others. Tell them to God and try to solve them. If we share our sorrows with the Universal Being, we will get Eternal Peace"-Amma

'The path which leads to the state of self-realization is very narrow. One walks this path alone'-Amma

"It is not possible to get closer to God if there is no sorrow of some kind. Spirituality is not for idle people. The difficulties of the subtle level are card compared to the sorrows of the external world."-Amma

...and this is life.
